My one and only commencement address
An homage to the graduating children and grandchildren of my family members, friends, colleagues, and Mobology subscribers
During my 51-year career as a grunt, fiercely independent crime reporter, as well as a professional cautionary tale, I have been asked to do only one commencement address . . . to the 1997 graduating class of Watkins Mill High School in Montgomery County, Maryland, which was held at Constitution Hall near the White House.
Today, I excerpt the final three minutes of my talk to honor the children and grandchildren of my family members, friends, colleagues, and Mobology subscribers who graduated this spring from high schools, colleges, and universities.
This is probably the best speech I’ve ever delivered. . . . Please watch until the very end.
Wow, Danny! I just love this. And this is you. You’re the best!
Perhaps the best and most accurately proven advice I’ve ever heard.
Especially to those in their late teens who are about to embark on the most important and transformative passage in their lives.
