On December 1, 1988, I sent letters to each of the NFL team owners, requesting interviews. As it turned out, Gene Klein, the former owner of the San Diego Chargers, was the only past or present NFL team owner who agreed to sit for an interview with me. Also, I had sent yet another letter to NFL Commissioner Rozelle, requesting an interview.
